Autumn is here and Halloween is closely approaching. As a lover of Halloween myself, I'm always looking for spooky, creative or festive things to do in the area. Whether you're looking for daytime or weekend events for the kids, or maybe you're an adult who loves Halloween like me! Here is your guide of things to do and 'What's On?' this Halloween in and around Stamford and Rutland.

Barnsdale's Scary Spooktacular
29th October at Barnsdale Gardens
Time: 12:00pm - 4:00pm
FREE with Garden Admission
Come for a walk in the weird woods and take part in a terrifying treasure hunt and you can carve your own petrifying pumpkin to take home - it's frightening fun for all the family, kids in costume visit FREE!

Spooky Tours at Burghley House
18th October - 31st October at Burghley House, Stamford

Burghley's popular spooky tours return's with local ghost expert Martin Tempest. The tours are designed to be scary but fun! Although, not recommended for children under the age of 11 but parents can decide whether to bring children of all ages.
The tours take place in the evening with low-level lighting across uneven surfaces, steps and in the open air in all weathers. You will be on your feet for up to 50 minutes so please wear suitable clothing and footwear.

Xtreme Scream Park

The award-winning scream park is the ultimate Halloween evening! With indoor scare mazes and live actors, it really is the night of fright! I actually attended last year and I would highly recommend it as the perfect evening our for adults it's both scary and fun!

The White Swan Halloween Party

Time: 9:00pm to Midnight
The White Swan hosts Halloween with Big Bopper Entertainment DJ, themed drinks including blood cocktails and test tube shots! Competition for 'Best Dressed Male & Female'!

Time: Open daily from 11:00am to 5:00pm
Admittance is FREE of charge with a House and Gardens or Gardens only ticket, Friends of Burghley or Annual Pass.
During October pop over to Burghley's Halloween Trail around the sculpture garden.

Time: 11:00am onwards
Pop over to the Halloween Barn for face painting, tombola, sweets, hook and apple, messy play and a Halloween Fun Hunt!

Halloween Craft Workshop
23rd October - 27th October at Burghley House, Stamford
Time: 12:00pm to 4:00pm
Admittance is FREE of charge with a House and Gardens or Gardens only ticket, Friends of Burghley or Annual Pass.
Join in with a creative workshop making Halloween Suncatchers in the sculpture garden classroom, a great activity for the children throughout the autumn half term.

Riverford's Pumpkin Day
28th October at Sacrewell Farm Park
Time: 11:00am to 4:00pm
A ticketed event of Halloween fun with fun for all ages. The annual pumpkin day at Sacrewell with pumpkin carving, face painting, human veg machine and a creativity area too!

Halloween Fun Weekend
24th October - 26th October at Rockingham Castle, LE16 8TH
Time: Open Daily from 11:00am to 4:00pm
The witches of Rockingham are gathering to celebrate Halloween for the first time in centuries! Come and take part in the spooky pumpkin activities they have been planning. A fun day out for all the family. Ticket price: Adults £13.50, Children £9.00 (Under 3's go FREE)

Hootingly Haunted Halloween
28th October at Anglian Water Birdwatching Centre, Rutland Water Nature Reserve
Time: 2:00pm to 4:00pm
Come along to the nature reserve to carve a scary pumpkin. Discover what goes on under the cover of darkness with the dissection of owl pellets and take part in some spooky craft making.

Pick Your Own Pumpkins!
Throughout October at Hill Farm, Chesterton, Peterborough, PE7 3UA
Opening Times: Tues - Fri 10am-6pm // Sat and Sun 10am-5pm
Not in Rutland but somewhere I love to visit during the Halloween season for the best pumpkins around! Take the whole family along and wonder the fields to find your perfect pumpkins and squashes the Halloween. Last year there was birds of prey and a children's play area too!
