On 1st April Rutland celebrates its 20th Anniversary of independence and there is lots going on in the county to commemorate 20 years of Rutland. We thought we'd share with you 'What's On' should you want to join in on the celebrations around the the area.

What's On: Saturday 1st Apil 2017

Oakham Castle - 11:00am - 4:30pm
Live Music, Entertainment, Food, Military Working Dogs, Film Displays, Photo Exhibition, Run for Rutland, Evening Choral Concert, Beacon Lighting, Fireworks and more!

Breakdown of events:

Run Charity Fun Run - 9:00am
Location: Rutland Show Ground, Oakham
Children's fun run in aid of local charity For Rutland.

Music & Entertainment - 11:00am - 2:00pm
Location: Oakham Castle
Catmose College Drama, Saxophone Choir, Rutland Concert Band & Maypole Dancing

Music & Entertainment - 2:00pm - 4:30pm
Location: Oakham Castle
Uppingham Jazz and Soul Band, Rutland Music Hub, Stamford Shakespeare Company, Maypole Dancing & Helen King

All in an April Evening - 7:00pm
Location: All Saints' Church, Oakham
Spring Concert by Rutland Choral Society.

Beacon Lighting - 9:00pm
Location: Cutts Close, Oakham
Ceremonial beacon to be lit by the Lord Lieutenant of Rutland

Fireworks Display (FREE) - 9:10pm
Location: View from Cutts Close, Oakham
Ending the celebrations with a BANG! 



All Day Events starting from 11:00am

Military Displays
Location: Oakham Castle
Display by Armed Forces regiments based in Rutland including military working dogs and heavy weapons.

Food & Drink
Location: Oakham Castle
 Delicious food and drink served throughout the day,
including a special 20th anniversary ale 'Raddleman' produced by
The Grainstore Brewery.

Film Screenings
Location: Oakham Castle
 A mix of old, archive footage and short clips made
for the occasion by people from Rutland. Share your clips

Photo Exhibition
Location: Victoria Hall, Oakham
 A step back in time with a collection of still photos going
back over the years.
