A Day at Burghley Horse Trials in Photos

1 September 2017
The start of Land Rover Burghley Horse Trials begins my favourite time of the year. Now in September, with the sun shining this year too, what a better way to celebrate the start of the month and the stunning area we live in and attend the popular Burghley Horse Trials!

The stunning views of the very beautiful Burghley House in the background of the Pony Club event.

Burghley Horse Trials has been a popular event since 1961, when it had only 19 competitors and was attended by 12,000, which is an extremely small amount of the people that the event brings to Stamford over 55 years on today.

A busy pedestrian entrance with all the keen shoppers!
A worldwide event popular with equestrian fans, but also an event common for shoppers too! It's known that many locals and visitors begin their Christmas shopping at Burghley with over 600 exhibitors there is plenty of shopping to be done!

A cheeky glass of Champagne on tap!
Another popular part of Land Rover Burghley Horse Trials is the food and drink scene. Many visitors bring their own picnics and food, however, for me, it's one of my favourite parts of the event walking the Foodwalk.

With local exhibitors and others from afar, you can walk the Foodwalk and be introduced to new brands and produce, trying samples and taking in the stunning smells through the two lanes of food favourites.

The oh-so popular Foodwalk.
There are so many reasons I love Burghley, a lot of it has to do with seeing the local area being appreciated by visitors from all over the world! I feel pride that it puts our stunning countryside on the map year on year.

Visitors enjoying the Dressage coverage on the big screens.
I also love to see people of all ages enjoying the event, they bring their dogs along and enjoy a day/weekend of celebrations, shopping and competing. Fun for all the family and even if you're not the biggest fan of Equestrian, there is something for everyone at Burghley.

My partner, Tom and I attended this year on day one, we brought along our dog, Arla and had the most wonderful day browsing and shopping, drinking and eating, doing the #LRBHT thing!

In true Rutland Blogger style as always, I took along my camera and captured photographs of the day that I thought I would share here on the blog for you to enjoy. Maybe you're not able to attend this year or maybe you've never been and you've always been curious what all the fuss is about? Well, hopefully, these photos will give you an insight into the fabulous weekend event that is Land Rover Burghley Horse Trials.

So, here is 'A Day at Burghley Horse Trials in Photos' - Enjoy!
